served in the Confederate Army under Captain William M. Weaver's Company, Martin's Battalion, Mounted Partisans Rangers. In 1886 the family moved and settled where the town of Hollis, Oklahoma now stands. Lived in Montague Co., TX, and owned land there in the 1870's and 1880's, and farmed near his father-in-law William N. Blackmore. The land was on a high bluff overlooking the Red River. His land is still in the Durham family.
