Whisnant, brother of Miss Emma Whisnant of Lawndale, volunteered in March 1941, and is now in England. He was one of six soldiers commended by the commanding officer at Fort Bragg, N.C. for action in extinguishing a fire which broke out while he was stationed there. in January 1944.
