The following story was related to me by Jim Watkins, of Loudon, Tennessee, about the three brother's Ervin, Stephen, and John, who settled around Rock Hill, South Carolina. Jim states that he was told by some of the brother's descendants that Stephen and John adopted the local Whisonant spelling of the family name, but Ervin and his descendants did not. |
