Ed Whisnant

BELTON, S.C. - Mr. Joseph Edward "Ed" Whisnant, 79, of 904 O'Neal St., died Monday, July 30, 2001, at his home.

Born in Lincolnton, he was a son of the late John H. and Mary Florence Whisnant. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe. He worked with Ford Motor Co. in the parts department and for Horton's Pharmacy. He was a member of the American Legion and belonged to Eastview Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, choir member and active in the church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorcas Elizabeth Elliott Whisnant of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Edward Jr. and Beth Whisnant of Atlanta and John Lee and Shiela Whisnant of Hartwell, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, John O. and Benita Whisnant of Polkville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Katheleen and Bryan Poston of Shelby, Mary Lee Woody of Forest City and Ruth and V.A. Powell of Polkville; and three grandchildren, Jonathan Whisnant and Tyler Whisnant of Hartwell and Brittney Spencer of Atlanta.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Eastview Baptist Church, with Drs. Kirt Mitchell and Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories in Belton.
