JEFFERSON - Emanuel David Whisnant, 97, died Monday, September 17, 2001, at his residence after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at the Lighthouse Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Steve Whisnant, Loy Reed and Luther Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Oconee Baptist Church cemetary.
Mr. Whisnant is survived by his wife, Hazel G. Whisnant, of the home; six sons James Whisnant, Arcade, J. W. Whisnant, Maysville, Marvin Whisnant and Jeffery Ray Whisnant, both of Jefferson, and Teddy Lamar Whisnant and Kenneth Joe Whisnant, both of Lula; six daughters, Louise Sargent, Jefferson, Claudia Wallace. Commerce, Peggy Ann Looney and Wanda Hart, both of Nicholson, and Susne Grindle and Jeannie Haywood, both of Gainesville; 39 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchnldren, and 15 step-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ivie Funeral home, Commerce.
Ivne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
