Melissa Whisenhunt

Somewhere there is a special place to rest for those who give their days to others, and that's where you'll find Melissa Dawn Whisenhunt, a dedicated RN, devoted to her patients, her family and her friends.

Missy was born July 14, 1971 in Denison, Texas. She departed this station on April 5, 2015 headed for the next, a young woman going to get the new place set up for all those she loves and waits to join her. That's just how she was; a tiny stick of dynamite of a woman, with a heart as big and strong as a raging bull, determined, a take charge girl who loved her family fiercely; but most of all, Missy loved her children, Abby and Jacob. Everything would have to be perfect in far, future days when they all will be reunited, and the multitude of stories will begin again. Her brother Billy, booby trapping his bike with rodents to keep her away from it, and the inevitable retribution where she always smiled when he got his just deserts. The endless band trips and their outcomes, Missy had become the ultimate band mom. Abby and Jacob were the light, her music, her world and her devotion was total.

The Valedictorian of her class at Caney High School, and honor graduated of the University of Oklahoma, she instilled passion and intellect as her children took the torch she passed and went out on their own, Abby to Oklahoma State and Jacob to OU.

For those who trail behind, the days without her presence in their lives will be hard. The voice, the smiles, the loving touch will be missed, but she won't be forever; for our own time here is but the blink of an eye, a whisper of rain on a summer wind, and sooner than can be imagined, the absence from warm embrace will end. Reunion will find us all together once again, health, joy, restored. Until then those who remain behind, will honor and do the best they can.

Missy is survived by her children Abby McClellan of Stillwater, OK and Jacob McClellan of Norman, OK, her parents, John and Kathy Speers of Caney, OK and her brother Bill and his wife Regina Whisenhunt of Paris, TX, he nieces, Cassidy, Caitlyn and Chloe Whisenhunt, her aunts and uncles, Bobby and Shannon Baker, Sandy Whisenhunt of Sand Springs, OK, Rex and Virginia Morris of El Paso, TX, Becky Murray of Bessemer, AL, Marsha Alford of Caddo, OK, Jim and Donna Gray of Caney, OK, Buck and Beverly Taylor of Hallsville, TX and Gene and Judy Willis of Durant, OK, numerous cousins and many, many friends.
