Jackson Eugene Whisnant

Jackson Eugene “Gene” Whisnant, 72, died Jan. 31, 2015, in Fort Worth.

Funeral is noon Friday, Feb. 20, at Trinity Baptist Temple in Saginaw with William Turner officiating. Burial will follow at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.

Gene was born Nov. 12, 1942, in Augusta, Ga., to Hoyt and Mary Elnora Whisnant. He was a machinist and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Temple in Saginaw and was retired from the City of Fort Worth.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Whisnant of Saginaw; sons Matthew Whisnant of Seattle, Wash., Jonathan Whisnant of Bremerton, Wash. and Jeff Irby of Pittsburg, Texas; daughter Amy Whisnant del Rio of Pittsburg, Texas; three stepsons; sister Janice Ridden of Anderson. S.C.; grandchildren Derek and Jasmine del Rio of Pittsburg; six step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Donations in Gene’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
