Jimmy Edward Whisenant

Jimmy Edward Whisenant, age 66, of Dudley Shoals Road, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at his home.

Born August 23, 1940, he was a son of the late James Andrew and Blannie Catherine Story Whisenant and the husband of the late Betty Jean Gibson Whisenant.

Mr. Whisenant had served in the National Guard and attended Refuge Missionary Baptist Church. He was a former supervisor with Kincaid Furniture, plant #6 and was a truck driver Leviton Trucking.

He is survived by his daughter, Regina Vanhorn and husband David of Granite Falls; one son, Kevin Whisenant of Granite Falls; one step-son, Chris Miller of Hudson; two step-daughters, Robin Chester and husband Stewart of Hudson; Lisa Lee of Baton; two brothers, James Allen Whisenant and wife Sandy of Waynesville; Gary Whisenant and wife Debbie of Lenoir; one sister, Marie Looper and husband John of Hickory; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Kenneth Reece Miller and sister Joyce Celnik.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, September 29, 2006 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
