Wayne Whisenant

Wayne Whisenant, 78, of Townsend, died March 15 at Hospice of the Golden Isles.

Mr. Whisenant was born in New Albany, Miss., to Charles Thomas Whisenant, Sr. and Addie Lena Webb Whisenant. He moved to Brunswick in 1969, where he was employed by Otto Johnson Motor Co. Inc., and Rentavision of Brunswick. He was the founder of C.M.T., Christian Television Ministries which originally aired on Rentavision, Channel 6. He was of the Baptist faith, having attended Christian Renewal and Beverly Shores Baptist Church in Brunswick. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and had been a resident of Townsend for the past seven years.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Margie Winsted Whisenant of Townsend; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Charles Cox of Townsend; daughters, Peny Stewart of St. Simons Island, Debbie Harrell of Houston, Texas, and Gina Whitten of Brunswick; sons, Bobby Whisenant of Statesboro and Jerry Woodard of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Reedus Whisenant of New Albany, Miss.; a sister, Ezell Littlejohn of New Albany, Miss.; a grandson-in-law, Jamey Ellis; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and was blessed with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mr. Whisenant's life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the residence of Ginger and Charles Cox, 1124 Fiddler Crab Rd., NE, Townsend.

Chapman Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
