Lemuel Sebern Whisnand

Mr. (L.S.) Lemuel Sebern Whisnand, 79, of Iowa Park, Texas passed away Friday, February 22, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 11 am Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at The Church of Christ in Iowa Park, Texas with Mr. Bill Lockwood of Iowa Park and Mr. Bobby Whisnand, Jr. of Plano, Texas officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Mr. Whisnand was born on March 30, 1933 in Electra, Texas to Lemuel and Edith Sorrlls Whisnand. He attended and graduated from Electra High School. He served his Country in the US Army where he served as a drill Sargent during the Korean War. He married Peggy Ann Darland on January 20, 1951 in Electra, Texas. They were married 62 wonderful years. They moved to Iowa Park in 1969. Mr. Whisnand worked for Texaco Oil, sold real-estate, and owned his own oil company "Whisnand Enterprises".

He loved to play golf with his brothers-in-law, but his greatest all the time joy came from many years of coaching PeeWee Sports in Iowa Park, football and baseball. He was known as "PeePaw" to many young boys and touched many of their lives. He was a dedicated, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and supported them always.

His parents, three brothers-in-law, Gene Marshall, Ted Darland and Caton Potts preceded him in death.

His survivors include his wife of 62 years, Peggy Whisnand of Iowa Park; daughter, Cheryl Deen and husband, Eddie of Iowa Park and son, Craig Whisnand and wife, Lisa of Aledo, Texas: sister, Donna Whisnand of Electra, Texas: brother, Bobby Whisnand, Sr. of Electra, Texas: six grandchildren, Chad Wright of Iowa Park, Chase Wright of Willow Park, Texas, Blake Whisnand of Monahans, Texas, Rachel Whisnand of Aledo, Texas, Andrew Whisnand of Lubbock, Texas and Stephen Whisnand of Aledo: two great grandchildren, Maci and Chase Wright of Minnesota and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 pm until 7:30 pm Monday, February 25, 2013 at Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park, Texas.
