Zona M. Whisenhunt, age 91, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, November 17, 2012. She was born on April 5, 1921 at Sims, the daughter of Vander D. Townsend and Larcaly Stovall Townsend. On July 31, 1937, she was married to Woodrow Whisenhunt, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Dallas Whisenhunt; her parents; her brother, Raymond Kelsie Townsend; and her sister, Maggie Louise Jones. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service where served as the Postmaster of the Sims Post Office from 1948-1980 and was a member of the Grenade Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her daughter, LaRue Anderson of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Doug and Heather Anderson, Darin and Tera Anderson, and Davin and Jamie Anderson all of Hot Springs; and four great-grandchildren, Caley Anderson, Allie Anderson, Jack Anderson, and Brady Anderson all of Hot Springs. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Lone Valley Cemetery, near Sims under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday evening. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Anderson, Paul Thompson, Bob Anderson, Leon Anderson, Lloyd Wayne Anderson, Darrell Townsend, Charles Blackburn, and the staff of Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab.
