Edith Brown Whisnant

SALISBURY - Mrs. Edith Mae Brown Whisnant, 85, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born April 7, 1926, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late George Carlton Brown and Bessie Council Yates. She was educated in Rowan County schools and was a member of Genesis Baptist Church. She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon, having worked in the winder room.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clement Whisnant.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Shelby Peyton (Andrew), and son Doug Laney (Melissa), both of Salisbury. She had two brothers, Donald and Junior Belk, both of Salisbury. She also had a sister, Barbara Burris. Grandchildren include Michael Peyton and Crystal Herrera; and great-grandchild is Tiffany Herrera. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Service: Visitation will be on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home, with Rev. Gene Edwards. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove is serving the Whisnant family.
