Faye Whisnant

MORGANTON Faye H. Whisnant, 71, of Morganton, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, after a period of declining health. Born in Union, S.C., on May 1, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Virgil B. Hildebrand and Ruby Mae Franklin Hildebrand. Faye was a member of Grandview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was the church custodian. Faye was a past employee of Buster Brown, Shadowline, and retired from the Burke County School System. Faye is survived by her sons, Stanley Max Whisnant and Timothy Gardner Whisnant, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Marcus S. Whisnant, Timothy B. Whisnant, Tyler J. Whisnant, and Teagan R. Whisnant; a great-grandson, Cole Whisnant; a brother, Raymond Hildebrand of Gamewell; a sister, Betty Rhoney of Valdese; and a number of nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Max Gardner Whisnant; a grandson, Richard R. Whisnant; brothers, Richard and Lester Hildebrand; and a sister, Margie Hensley. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Grand-view Baptist Church with Rev. John Whisnant, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
