Virginia Mae Hutchens Whisenant

In loving memory of Mrs. Virginia Mae Hutchens Whisenant, who went home to be with her Lord on June 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.E. (Buddy) Whisenant; parents, Wesley and Ethel Hutchens; brothers, Willard, Boyd, Cecil, Alden, Luke, L.T., Ray and Jack Hutchens.

Virginia was a longstanding member of Gallant First Baptist Church, secretary of her women's Sunday School class and a member of WMU.

Virginia was known for her love of gardening and yard work. The perfect day for her was a beautiful, sunny, warm day that she could spend mowing her lawn and working in her flower beds. She also loved hummingbirds. Numerous hummingbirds would return year after year to her home.

Virginia was a kind, loving and God-fearing woman. She loved with all her heart. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and joy. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine (Mike) Brannon, Southside; son, Eddy (Pam) Whisenant; Gallant; grandchildren, Angela (Brad) Bennett, Smithville, Miss., Brandi Stephens, Odenville, Nicholas Whisenant, Fort Payne, Michael and Hayley Whisenant, Gallant; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Bennett, Smithville, Miss., Johnathan Stephens, Odenville, Gabriel and Zane Whisenant, Fort Payne; a host of nieces and nephews; and lifelong best friends, Mrs. Geneva Lutes and Mrs. Audrey Bellew.

Pallbearers will be Michael Whisenant, Brad Bennett, Sonny Washburn, Danny Fowler and Len and Tim Hutchens.

The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Gallant. The Rev. Tom Brown will officiate. There will be a lie-in-state from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. before the service. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
