NEDERLAND — Jettie “Lou” Whisenant, 79, of Nederland passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Missouri City.

Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Melancon’s Funeral Home 1605 Avenue H in Nederland with Rev. Kicker McWilliams officiating, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.

Jettie was born September 15, 1931 in Port Arthur to the late Russell Merrell and Delphine Pelloat. She lived all of her life in the Port Arthur and Nederland area and was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Nederland.

Jetti was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Whisenant. She is survived by her daughters, Charlene Hudson and her husband Philip of Missouri City, and Melissa Whisenant of Nederland; granddaughter Michal Lynn Hoener her husband Travis of Madison, Alabama, also three grandchildren; two brothers, Russell “Buster” Merrell of Nederland, and Harvey Lee Merrell of Hemphill; two sisters, Shirley Immel of Nederland, and Sandra Faye LeLeux of Starks, Louisiana. Also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
