Odell Whistlehunt

DENVER, N.C. ? Odell Whistlehunt, 60, of Denver, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at his residence.

Born Nov. 13, 1946 in Marytown, he was the son of the late Earl and Mae Nichols Whistlehunt. He was a resident of Denver the past 10 years, formerly of Roderfield and Gary. He was of the Church of Christ religion.

Preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Cora Lee Short; and one brother, Earl Whistlehunt.

Survivors include one son, Michael Whistlehunt and wife Sherry of Princeton; one daughter, Tracie England and husband Stacey of Bluefield; five sisters, Thelma Jean Riffe and husband Jesse, Veola Nierman and husband Charles, Ruby Shirley and husband Bobby, Gaynell Stacy, all of Denver, Maxine Rose and husband Leonard of Roderfield; one brother, Eugene Whistlehunt and wife Brenda of Denver; three special grandchildren, Tara Whistlehunt of Princeton, Stacey and Brandi England of Bluefield; one special great grandson, Connor Odell Whistlehunt of Princeton. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and a very special uncle, who will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 26, 2007, at 11 a.m. from Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch with Speaker J. D. Mahon officiating. Burial will follow at Iaeger Memorial Cemetery in Roderfield.

Friends may call Sunday at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
