VET WWII and Korea

John Edgar Whisenant, Jr., 88, of Webber Road, formerly of Lucille Court, died Sunday, August 12, 2007, at White Oak Estates. Born May 3, 1919, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late John Edgar Whisenant, Sr. and Augusta Dillard Whisenant. A graduate of Clemson College, he was a retired engineer with Duke Power. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Pacific during World War II, and was later recalled to Korea in the 1950's.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia McAbee Whisenant; two sons, John Edgar Whisenant, III of Spartanburg, and Marc Joseph Whisenant and his wife Peggy of Columbia; and two grandchildren, Adam Whisenant and Maggie Whisenant.

Visitation will be 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Joe Dempsey. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
