Mary Katherine Whisenhunt Davenport

Services for Mary Katherine Davenport, 97, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.

Mrs. Davenport died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at the Eudora Nursing Center.

She was born April 21, 1902, in Moody, Mo., the daughter of Joseph Hamilton and Anna Bernice (Stephens) Whisenhunt.

Mrs. Davenport had been a teacher in Lone Tree, Okla., had owned an upholstery shop in Webster City, Iowa, and farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Eagle Lodge, Retired Eagle Activity, all of Lawrence, Retired Teachers Asson., AARP, and Friends Church of Gate, Okla.

She married Alfred E. Sagerty in Coldwater. He died in a truck-train collision in 1936. She married Clifford William Davenport in 1943 in Wichita. He died in 1972.

Survivors include a daughter, Hildred A. Smith, Dodge City; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, and they may be sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
