Willie B. Whisonant
June 26, 1920 - June 24, 2008

SOUTH BEND - Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Mrs. Willie B. Whisonant quietly departed this life on June 24 at HCCRC where she was a resident. Willie B. Whisonant affectionately known as "Ms. Willie" was born to the late Earnest and Stella Smith, June 26, 1930 in Hope, Arkansas. Willie Whisonant leaves behind to mourn, her husband, Billy Whisonant of South Bend; a son, John (Ida) Bivens of Indianapolis; and a daughter, Michelle (Everett) Fisher of South Bend; four stepdaughters, Natalie (Steven) Brown of Kansas City, KS, Darlene (Kalvin) Dardy of Indianapolis, Wanda Whisonant of South Bend and Damita (Kelvin) Walton of Ft. Wayne; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will greatly miss her. Willie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Hal Lindsey; four sisters, Helen Rogers, Thelma Muldrow, Jennie Harris and Clemitee Pontor; and a brother, James Smith. Willie was a retired employee of the City of South Bend, where she worked at the Martin Luther King and Charles Black recreation centers as a senior citizen director for 28 years. Willie was also a faithful member of St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years and a choir member. Funeral services for Mrs. Willie B. Whisonant will be held on today, Saturday, June 28, in the St. Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 621 Lindsey St. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at noon. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
