Terry Whisnant

LEXINGTON, SC-- Mr. Whisnant, loving husband of Susan Whisnant, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Monroe, NC, he was the son of the late Carl Sylvester and Burnice Helen McGaha Whisnant. He was a graduate of Cowpens High School, received an Associates in Arts at North Greenville College followed by a Bachelors of Arts in Humanities and Social Services from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Whisnant then went on to receive his Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mr. Whisnant retired from South Carolina Government in 1997 after 11 years of service as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan Whisnant; daughter, Haleigh Whisnant; son and daughter-in-law, Zachary and Heather Whisnant; and son Chandler Whisnant and Mary Catherine Livingston, all of Lexington; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Michael Henderson of Spartanburg; step-mother, Iris Valley of Spartanburg.

Special thanks to George and Minnie Hipp, all of his family and friends, and to Angela his caregiver who have supported the family throughout his illness.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Rev. John Culp and Rev. Andy Oliver; interment will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening, January 28, 2008 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
