Laura Sue Gilchrist Whisenhunt

OPELOUSAS - Funeral services for Laura Whisenhunt, 85, will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Ms. Whisenhunt was a native of Lawtell, La. and a resident of Centerville. She died at 5:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at her residence.

She was a teacher in the Louisiana Public School System for over 20 years, she also taught at Lawtell Elementary. She was also a long time member of the General Federation of Women's Club.

Survivors include her son, Jackie Whisenhunt and wife, Brenda, of Papillion, Neb.; two daughters, Johnnie Taylor and husband, Ronald, of Lawtell, La., Amanda Lanclos and husband, Mickey, of Centerville, La.; one brother, Gordon Gilchrist and wife, Georgia, of Fort Payne, Ala.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ms. Whisenhunt was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Johnnie Hulsey Gilchrist; and her three brothers, Archie, T.A. and Billy Gilchrist.
