Frances Whisenand

MORTON -- Frances Lorene Whisenand, 77, formerly of Delavan and Tremont, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, where she lived for the past four months.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont. The Rev. Robert Nafziger, her son-in-law, and the Rev. Albert Lynn, her brother-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dillon Mennonite Church.

She was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Fayette, Mo., to Lewis and Mary Reeves Westfall. She married Linn Michael Whisenand on Feb. 27, 1943, in Higbee, Mo. He died March 25, 1977.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, two half brothers and five half sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Vernon (Phyllis) Whisenand and Michael (Sharon) Whisenand, both of Tremont, Melvin "Cal" (Marie) Whisenand of Lyford, Texas, and Eric (Jodie) Whisenand of Delavan; two daughters, Linda (William) Dailey of Hopedale and Nadine (Robert) Nafziger of Delavan; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 4 stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Jean) Westfall of Moberly, Mo.; and five sisters, Ellen Orton of Delavan, Edith Ash and Marjorie Prewitt, both of Moberly, Mo., Josephine (Wayne) Newman of Kirksville, Mo., and Elsie (Albert) Lynn of Bradford.

Whisenand attended the Dillon Mennonite Church, where she served as a Sunday school, Bible school and Bible study teacher. She was the past president of WMSC of the church.

She also was a member of the Republican National Committee and served as an election judge for Dillon and Tremont townships.

She was a gardener and seamstress.
