Clifford J. Whisenhunt Sr., a former employee of Brookley Air Force Base and retiree from General Services Administration, died Monday in a local hospital.

A native of Monroe County, Whisenhunt, 72, resided in Mobile. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was a member of the Town and Country Social Club.

Survivors include his wife, Alma B. Whisenhunt of Mobile; five daughters, Jean Alexander, Yolanda Prowell, Cheryl Jones and Melissa Whisenhunt, all of Mobile, and Peggy Chastang of Atlanta; one son, Clifford J. Whisenhunt Jr. of Junction City, Kan.; one stepson, Richard Broadnax of Mobile; one sister, Perrico McCorvey of Pensacola; 13 grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Reese Funeral Home in Prichard, with services at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Moffettville Cemetery in Wilmer, Mobile Co., AL
