William Whisennand

Oklahoma native William "Bill" Whissendand, 89, of Glasgow, who homesteaded with his family on what is now New Deal near Fort Peck, and who worked on the construction of Fort Peck Dam as a carpenter and electrician, died of natural causes Sunday at a Glasgow Hospital.

Family and public visitation is 2 p.m. Thursday at Bell Chapel in Glasgow. His memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in the Galpin Cemetery in Fort Peck.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Whisennand of Glasgow; sons Lyle Whisennand of Anacortes, Wash., and Jerry Whisennand of Gonzales, La.; a daughter, Lila Kulczyk of Fort Peck; brothers Herman Whisennand of Plains and Melvin Whisennand of Bothell, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
