Louise J. Messick

Louise J. Messick died April 12, 2010 in Longmont, Colorado. She was born March 8, 1915 to James F. and Harriet Langley in Atoka, Oklahoma. She was 95.

Louise met and married Garvey Ray Whisenhunt in Sand Springs, OK. They had one son Bobby Ray. Louise and Garvey divorced in 1935. She met and married Bert Messick seven years later. Bert died in 1977.

She moved to Longmont in 1992 to be near her son and family.

Louise served as a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Her service was recognized by a certificate stating 16 years with 5,999 hours of service.

She was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and served as Oklahoma State Commander from 1983-1984. Louise was a member of First Baptist Church in Longmont.

She was preceded in death by her siblings and mother.

Louise is survived by her son Bobby Ray, known as Ray, his wife Yvonne of Longmont, 5 grandchildren and their spouses; Phillip and Dana Whisenhunt of Las Vegas, NV; Sheryl and Rick Trezise of Amarillo, TX; Debbie and Glenn Davidson of Castle Rock, CO; Steve and Karolina (Charly) Whisenhunt of Greeley, CO and Patty and Bryan Medbery of Platteville, CO; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00pm Friday at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with the family present to greet friends. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Saturday at First Baptist Church, a reception will follow. Interment at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, OK. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Stained Glass Window Repair Fund.
