Sharon Kay Lash

Funeral for former Lawton resident Sharon Kay Lash, 59, Burkburnett, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Al Potts officiating.

Mrs. Lash died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at her home.

Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

She was born Feb. 22, 1949, in Durant, to Robert Allen Whisenhunt and Ophelia Walton Damron Whisenhunt. They moved to Lawton in 1951, where she grew up and attended B.C. Swinney Elementary, Tomlinson Junior High School and Lawton High School, graduating in 1967. She began working for D.O.L. at Fort Sill in civil service and then moved to Shepard Air Force Base where she worked at the clinic as a medical transcriptionist and in scheduling in the radiology department. She was a former president for the American Business Woman's Association of Lawton and belonged to the union at Shepard Air Force Base.

Survivors include her son , Ted Lash, Burkburnett, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Belva (Beb) and Randy Chambers, Lawton; a niece, Mandy Wells and her husband, Eric, Fulton, Ky.; a nephew, Matthew Chambers, Lawton; two great-nephews, Tyler and Zebulun, and a great niece, Sarah; and many cousins and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
