Raymond Floyd Whisenant

Raymond Floyd Whisenant, 63, of N.C. 126, Morganton, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Burke County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Annie Allman Whisenant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ronda Ann Whisenant and a brother, Robert Whisenant. Mr. Whisenant loved to work on small engines and also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Randolph Whisenant of the home; three sons, Brian Whisenant and wife, Shanda of Morganton, Timothy Floyd Whisenant of the home and Andrew Whisenant and wife, Judy of Valdese; four brothers, Albert Whisenant and wife, Linda of Glen Alpine, Joe Ben Whisenant of Morganton, Winnie Whisenant and wife, Brenda of Morganton and Billy Whisenant and wife, Marqueita of Glen Alpine; sisters, Janie Bell Owens of Glen Alpine, Ann Mae Owens and husband, Press of Glen Alpine, Ruby McCall and husband, Dallas of Morganton and Mary Childers and husband, Randy of Lockhart, S.C.; and grandchildren, "we will miss you Papa," Brittany, Destiny, Hunter and Haley Whisenant, all of Valdese.

Funeral services will be held on at 2 p.m. Monday, in the Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Revs. Burt Wilbur and Roger Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 332 N.C. 126, Morganton.
