Sudie Stutts Whisenant

SALISBURY - Sudie Stutts Whisenant, 87, of Salisbury died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 4, 1919, in Richmond County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Javin and Margaret "Maggie" Gillis Stutts. She was educated in the Richmond County schools.

For many years, Mrs. Whisenant worked at Eparles at the Ketner Center. She also enjoyed being a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salisbury and the Dorcas Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Whisenant was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. "Jake" Whisenant on Feb. 17, 1987; infant son, Bradley Whisenant and son, D. Chris Whisenant.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Miller Whisenant of Lahaina, Hawaii; son, David Joel Whisenant and wife Jtan of Salisbury; grandchildren, Phil Easterling and Kendall Easterling of Lahaina, Hawaii, and Kyle Whisenant of Salisbury. She is also survived by many extended family members.

Visitation: The family received friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at Summersett Funeral Home, and the remainder of the time, at the home of her son, David.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Salisbury with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Lance, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
