William M. Whisenhunt

Note* | William M. Whisenhunt enlisted in the C.S.A. in Virginia, on February 8, 1863. He was captured at Fredericksburg, Virginia, on May 3, 1863, and confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware. On May 23, 1863, he was released in a prisoner exchange, at City Point, Virginia. Records show he was reported absent sick through October 1863, but rejoined the company prior to November 1863, when he was again captured at Rappahannock Station, Virginia. He died of typhoid fever, while being held a prisoner of war at Point Lookout, Maryland. Author's note: The civil war notes came from the book entitled North carolina Troops: 1861-1865, volume IV. |
