John Whisenant was born Aug 6, 1845, GA. Came to Texas in 1876 and settled at Bluff Springs. He came to Hays Co. in 1884. He married Elizabeth Miles and raised his family at Driftwood. Six sons: John T., Virgil, H. C. (Boss), Earn, Ben, Sylvester, 3 daughters: Nannia (Kruager), Clara Miles, Bessie Miles. He and his wife are buried at Driftwood, TX.' Military: confederate Army, Capt. Bill Taylor's Co., Reeds Rgt., Cpl. Co. H, 24 Regt., GA. Inf. CSA.
